Area Attractions
Of course the biggest draw is the beach, but there is so much more in the area. Xcambo, a mayan ruin, is less than ten miles away. On your way in or out of town, stop at the Uaymitun flamingo viewing station. Motul, a large mayan farm town is a short drive inland. Or go east to Dzilam De Bravo for more flamingos. Progreso, a cruise ship port, is a twenty minute drive. There you will find many tourist shops and even a north american style (walmart type) store. A stroll along Progreso's malecon is always entertaining. The capital city of the Yucatan is Merida and is only an hour or so away. The centro area is a must see.
